James Berlyn is an interdisciplinary creator, performer, director, curator & lecturer of 25 years experience based in Perth, Western Australia. He trained originally in dance at the VCA in Melbourne, Australia. His practice crosses performing arts, installation, community arts and education with an emphasis on intimate experiences and invited participation. Given the relative isolation of Perth, James makes work of quality and sustainability that it both flexible and readily tour-able. His work since 2010 has been presented around Australia at most of the country's major arts festivals. James was the instigator and co-founder of Proximity Festival and a co founder of Tracksuit, WA's all ability dance company.
